Question about SRT and smog check
I have a 2002 GS 430 and had the SRT intake installed. I returned the car back to stock and took it in to get smogged. Everything passed as far as the emissions. The only problem I have is the functional test failing. The results say that the vehicle failed due to [I]MIL/Check Engine Light Test[I]. The smog technician told me that the OBD says that there is something going on with the ECU and that it doesnt make the Check engine light come on. I took the car home and soldered the cut wire and then wrapped all the other connectioins better. Went out and bought my own OBD and tested it. There were no codes. My question is this, should I pass the test at the smog staion or is their OBD reader different? Thanks for looking.
If you bought your own scanner, and checked the car and it was fine. then it should be fine. Just drive it for about 50 miles, check the computer again, if no codes then your good to go. you should pass.
Make sure that you reset your ecu. Unplug the battery for 20-30 minutes or pull the fuse. I forget which fuse it is but you can look it up. Then you should check to see if you are throwing any trouble codes.
Hope that helps.
