I have black residues too, I thought only my car would get that. Knowing this is a relief.

Normal for any car w/ any exhaust excluding hybrids... the black residue will always build up so i just leave it and only clean the the outer tips. It gives it a stock look and an illusion of a bigger tip... ahaha

This is normal and was happening when you had your stock exhaust on. You just never noticed it since the inside of the stock tailpipes are not polished stainless steel like the Tanabe.

I have stock exhaust and I notice the black dust along the inside of the tip. Then again, I've noticed that on all the cars I've driven before so it has to be normal.

I used a wet towel to wipe the residue. it is gone.. and maybe use metal polish to make it shiny again?

I still clean mine every time I wash the car. Makes it look so much better.

Lately some film became cooked on. Couldn't remove it even with rim cleaner. So I bought some Autosol metal polish. Apparently some of the best stuff. Can't wait to try it.

I've got the Lexus HKS and it's back to being solid black a week after washing. I tried Mother's Chrome Polish, it did a decent job but still left lots of residue. I found this Blue-Job stuff and it's absolutely amazing! Check it out:

I clean mine with a wet microfiber towel after wiping down the rest of the car. It just wipes right off. Here is what it looks like after a couple days:

After a week, it's totally black.

Black soot is normal.

I clean mine out every week. Just spray some WD-40 inside each exhaust tip hole, let it sit for a few minutes, and use a paper towel or rag to wipe them out.

I also clean the outside of the cans with WD-40. Looks brand new.
