Default Octane Ratings

Anyone notice a major diff in performance when using reg instead of 93 or 94? When I know I am going to burn a tank out on the highway I usually run reg. Can't really tell in the city.

The good old marketing strategy oil company has given us, "regular, plus, supreme." What does this all mean? Not a damn thing! Its all marketing strategy. Octane raiting on gasoline is the resitance a gasoline gan hold before it detonates. So if your car is designed for 87 octane, putting 91 octane will not make a difference. Now if your car is designed for 91octane and you put 87, then you might damage your engine due to pre detonation. Usually our gs3 or 4 does 91 octane because its a higher compression engine than other cars.

So far from what I've heard, putting regular in your GS instead of premium will NOT damage your engine as long as you're not trying to race with it, you will just see lessened performance with it.
