Default Timing Belt For 03 Lexus Is300

I wanted to get some opinions on this. My car has 108,000 and it's an 03 lexus is300. I have been told by the dealership that i should replace the timing belt at 90,000 miles but i'm kinda tight on money since it costs $1100 to have the full service done. So i'm trying to figure out if i should charge my credit card and be in debt or hold off on it til next year. So if i could please get some replies on when people have gotten their timing belts replaced and if anyone has had their timing belt go bad and what were the consequences? Thanks.

Definately get your timing belt changed. If you timing belt snaps, you will have a bill way bigger than $1100. Look for good, reputable shop that is familiar with Toyota/Lexus and get a quote. Most will be a lot more reasonable than the dealership. Check in at the California forums and see if fellow members can refer you to a shop. Goodluck!
