The stock exhaust varies from 2 to 2.25" The secondary cats for example in the mid pipe have a 2" diameter pipe going into the cats and 2.25" leading out of the cats. I also believe the stock piping going into the mufflers is 2" as well. Even Tanabe uses 2" until it merges into the flange where it connects to the stock resonator."

If I do a 2.25" custom midpipe, will my x-pipe need to be 2.25" to match, or a 2.5" so it will fit inside? Also with the Magnaflow mufflers, 2.25" or 2.5"? Will that be the same for the tips as well? I just want to make sure I have all the correct parts in hand before I head to the shop.

My vote is for a full 2.25" system if you are doing true dual with x pipe. As for the tip size on the Magnaflow mufflers I'd go with a 4" tip like the Tanabe.

So then what you are saying is that if my custom pipes are 2.25" then my x-pipe & Magnaflows need to be the 2.25" ID Inlet. There are 2 options for every part 2.25" or 2.5". Just wanna make sure that when I go to the shop and say I want 2.25" custom bent pipe that my xpipe and mufflers will fit. Same with the tips, if I have a 2.25" ID Inlet muffler, then the tip will have to be 2.25"ID Inlet so they can weld it on, correct? Bottom line is I am getting a 2.25" custom Mandrel bent exhaust and I want everything else to match up correctly.

You just order everything in 2.25" size. If you get different sized exhaust pieces you'll need reducers. This is assuming you want true dual right? Meaning you won't utilize any of the stock pieces?

Yes, that is what I want to do. I may try for the time being a true dual 2.25" after the secondary cats into the x-pipe into the Magnaflows.

Check out a web site www.pypesexhaust.com They have a good x-pipe. Magnaflows is a stamped x-pipe and is not going to flow like intended! This is the Pypes x-pipe.GOOD see how close the cross section is. This will work properly.

true, but I`d rather run 2.5" exhaust with good components than a 2.25 that doesn't flow properly!! Their are other good brands out there that are not stamped in 2.25". I'm going to run 2.5" when I change mine.(making room for future mods haha)

The main reason I am going to run a 2.25" is that is what most of the people on this forum agreed to be the best for this car. Why do you think a 2.5" is better?
