When I did my first oil change on my 250 I was poking around under the car checking things out and one thing I noticed is that Lexus used a set of steal drive shafts on this car. I thought that it would be smart to change it out to an aluminum or even carbon fiber drive shaft to reduce rotational mass and free up some HP.
Dose anyone know of any company’s out there that make drive shafts for this car yet? If not, dose anyone know the spline count, yoke size and U-joint size so I can have one made.
I would expect that to be a very low bang for the buck mod considering that the drive shaft has such a low moment of inertia due to its small diameter. You would be better off lightening up the other stuff first.
Yes, but since nobody is putting out power to be pulling houses with their cars, either is plenty strong. My previous vehicle put out more than 2x the torque of my IS350 and did just fine with an aluminum driveshaft.
^-- Thats word, My old Z28 was putting out numbers in the 400s at the wheels and I had an aluminum drive shaft and I never had a problem. The nice thing about it is I got some better gass milage on the highway with it over the heavy steal one. So with all that noise said, dose anyone know some info on the stocker?
