Default HKS Super Hybrid Air Filter

With these wildfires in So Cal and air quality so poor. I'm planning on changing the air filter for my is250.

Does anyone know if the HKS Super Hybrid air filter is reusable?

You can't clean filters too much, just make sure it's properly oiled (not too little or too much).
I'm more familiar with cotton filters vs the HKS kind, so I have no idea if they even use oil.
If not, you can't clean them too often. I would say ever oil change or every other. Cleaner filter = more filtration = more air = better for engine = better for performance (power and gas mileage).

Actually Just opted to go with a K&N drop in air filter element.

From past experience with K&N, easy clean with the recharger kit. Rinse filter, spray cleaner, wait to dry then oil. Good stuff.

The HKS filters look like they are made out of foam, so I would think all you would have to do is rinse it off, then dry it off.

This is mostly wrong. HKS filters are foam, and don't use oil at all. To clean them, just throw the foam insert it into a cloths washer by itself on the heavy duty cycle (don't put it in the dryer). It's not a good idea to clean it too often since clean filters allow much more dirt through than dirty filters. There's also no real performance benefit to cleaning it often since even a dirty filter will flow much more air than the engine needs.

BTW, stay away from the oiled K&N style filters since it's too easy to over-oil them and ruin the MAF sensor.

^^ When they are brand new, I was sure that the foam layers on the HKS had an oily feel to it... hence "wet-type"

^^^ That doesn't seem like a good description to me at all since mine was not oily, and it has 3 layers.

Don't understand why things like this aren't accurate, especially when its your own product website..

When oiling a cotton filter you simply dab the oiled filter with paper towels to get all the extra oil out and it's fine to go. Never had the slightest problem!
