Default Vacuum Hose thing broke.. pic inside help pls!

I posted a thread about my gs4 dying out of no where and i cant press on the gas. I was told to first try cleaning the throttlebody.

Upon following directions i found that something was broken!

This..

(look at the upper left finger pointing)

So could this be the problem of my car stalling out randomly? It is just broken off, its not able to be put back on i can see that whatever it is that let the hose over it is broken.

Taking a pic now of broken part.

What exactly do these vacumm hoses do?

And should i just get a new aftermaret intake or get an oem part? lol i dont even know what this would be called! The broken looking hole is what im talking about. Theres no way for the hose to reconnect to that

Just drill out the hole bigger, tap it with 3/8npt thread, and then screw in a 3/8npt brass nipple. As for what that thing is...it's probably the positive pressure side of the PCV or the EVAP VSV from the gas tank.

Look at the Brass fitting part . Get one of these fittings from hardware store and screw it into the intake box.

Looks like it can be fixed if you drill it and add a fitting like the others said. Can you unscrew that broken piece at all? If you can remove it and if it's threaded you can just replace the fitting. I bought my K&N intake with one of those plastic fittings broken off so I replaced it with a nice anodized aluminum one.

Sure it's an easy fix, but it's a good excuse to buy an intake.

Sorry if I was too technical lol. Basically what you need to do is drill out that plastic part that snapped off...enlarge the hole. You need to make the hole bigger to screw in a new brass fitting. Tapping it means to make the threads for the fitting to screw into. That's actually not necessary since you're screwing the fitting into plastic. It's more crucial to tap the hole if it's metal. If you are close to me, just stop by sometime and I can get that fixed in like 5 minutes.

The broken off part actually broke off inside the vacuum hose. There is no extra part stuck in the pic i showed.

Ill try to do this method if i cant find a decent deal on a new intake

You can also use a 2 part epoxy. Remove the nipple from the vaccum hose using a razor blade, mix the epoxy and lather it around the nipple. This worked on a customers car that didn't want to buy the really expensive intake box. Also jeff is correct in saying that it is the positive pressure for the EVAP VSV.

hmm 2 part epoxy.. the nipples are rather big for the intake box thing, i bought several from home depot but are too large.

Lextek Can you direct me to what kind of product that is? The epoxy?

Ah this sucks i cant drive my car and im just a college student that cant afford $250+ for an intake right now!

You can find epoxy at Autozone for $5 too. That's where I get mine. If you were local I'd let you borrow my stock intake.

If the piece that broke off can't be used, go to Home Depot, pepboys, autozone, etc... and pick up a barbed hose connector and glue that in with the epoxy as suggested.
