I installed a rear end (the entire pumpkin) from a 1997 automatic supra TT. The ONLY thing that needed to be swapped over from my stock sc300 pumpkin to the auto supra tt pumpkin was the yoke.

A 35mm deep socket is needed. It was a major PITA finding this, but a local Kragen had exactly what I needed. It only took a couple hours to swap the pumpkins. Very simple, straight forward, nothing too difficult. A friend helped me, cuz the rear diff is pretty damn heavy. It's definately easier with an extra pair of hands.

The car handles better, launches better, and overall feels a lot more solid. Oh, and it leave two nice 275mm wide rubber marks too if I feel like doing something crazy

Not only do I now have a torsen limited slip diff installed, I'm also using the 3.76 gears. I couldn't stand the 4.27 gear ratio that came with my automatic sc300 rear end. This will increase my top speed from about 160mph (old gears) to a hair over 180mph (new gears).. not that I'd ever be doing anything like that anyway

LSD and longer gears are nice- it'll be definately to my advantage with a 67mm turbo. I'll be in each gear longer, and even be in the powerband longer. It's actually noticeably faster at higher speeds now

To clear things up, the rear end from an auto TT supra IS a direct bolt on "upgrade/mod" for a sc300- as long as the yokes are swapped.

My speedo is off now. It reads 12% too slow (because of the change in gear ratio/ ring gear).

$100. Hope it works. A few s2000 friends of mine use this thing- and they say it works great. All I need to do is find the speed sensor pin on the ECU. Does anyone know which PIN it is?

 

let me know if the yellow box works for you man. i am in the same boat as you are with the speedometor being off. did you buy the one for the three wire sensor or the one wiht the two?

 

It asked me to put year, make, model, so I put 97 lexus sc300.

it says- 2 wire works for all toyota. since lexus = toyota, hopefully i'll be OK.

 

i actually just loked a the wiring diagram for the 97 sc300 speed sensor and its a 3 wire sensor.

 

So you had to use the tt auto supra yoke?

 

I had to use the yoke from my sc300 differential. The tt yoke was replaced with the stock sc300 yoke. (35mm socket).

 

I believe the companion flange that connects to the driveshaft was all that needed to be changed: take off the Supra TT companion flange and attach the SC300 flange to allow for a connection to the stock driveshaft to occur. It requires a massive socket to break it loose, but it is not a very difficult surgery.

97-SC300- Are you 100% sure? Come to think of it, I think it is a 3 wire sensor. I'll verify it when I get home, then I'll shoot them an e-mail. It's too bad they're all the way in Australia.

 

The 6spd differential is narrower and requires longer wheel axles (from the 6MT Supra) to work on the SC. The 6spd ratio is ~4.1. The Auto TT axle is the one that swaps directly to the SC's rear with a 4.76 ratio (so long as you swap the companion flange).

 

4.76, you meant 3.76, right? Also, mating the 6spd getrag tranny to the Auto TT diff isn't an issue I assume? I hope not, lol, because that's the combo I bought!
