Default Yes, the IS250 is that slow.

Lets just say, I blew it with this version of the IS. I expected much more, especially when going against a Scion tC, lol. Today, the weather was awfully hot @106 degrees.

I could not keep up with the tC as it continue to pull ahead by more than half a car length!!!! Don't know what I'm doing wrong. The pedal is to the floor. Is it proper to be spanked by a Scion tC? I'm in a IS250 and you would think this class can beat a stock compact sedan.

That's why I didn't even consider the 250. I had a pair of tCs at the time and I knew the 250 wouldn't touch the manual tC.

Exactly!!! I can hear him shifting so I know it's a manual. It's stock because I don't hear him supercharged or having an exhaust system. I can't believe it. I'm totally dissapointed. I believe there is a 40HP difference between these two sedans, but shouldn't I be able to keep up at least? It's just strange.

Well, I'm not liking my IS anymore. I totally regret it. Now do you think an IS350 can beat the tC? Let's hope the answer is YES!!!

The tC only weighs 2915 on a certified scale. AMHIK. That's where you're losing to it. I've seen them as low as 2730, but not in a safe driving configuration.

The 350 leaves the tC and the new Camry for dead. Again, AMHIK.

I don't think the IS250 is worth spending all that much for an aftermarket supercharger. I'm thinking of trading it in now. Serious, before this, I was high on my IS. Now, I have this sunken feeling. It's like I just don't care about my IS that much anymore.

I shouldn't think of the IS250 like that, but treat it as just another car that can go from Point A to Point B with added comfort and geniune Lexus/Toyota reliability. But then again, so is the tC, lol.

I still can't believe it. That just proves that a potent 4cyl can really outrun a V6, or even a V8 for that matter when configured right.

Maybe I should downgrade to a tC. Good gas mileage, fast, fast, fast, fast, cheap, reliable, fast, lots of aftermarket support, fast, good on gas, fast, fast......

Oh, just think. IF a tC can beat me, I'm embarrased to see what the new 07 Civic SI can do!!!!

weight difference doesnt make up for the 40 hp difference or w/e plus the tc is front wheel drive thus less drivetrain loss since the is250 is rear wheel drive

so.. u're gonna hang ur head everytime a rav4 beats u to the next stop light? there are always cars out there that are faster. it won't matter if u get the is350 if u look at it that way. think how happy u were with it prior to the beat down.

Exactly, couldnt have said it better myself. I have a 89 5.0 LX 5speed, cost me 5k and i dumped 1k of basic aftermarket bolt ons (free labor cuz i did it). My mustang will spank my 40k is350 silly... so should i sell my IS and keep the mustang? The mustang ONLY goes faster and has very fun, very easy to modulate power oversteer.... Now what does the Lexus have that the mustang dont? Im really not gonna make a list cuz it'll be endless...

When it comes right down to it, is250 can be turned into the full VIP cruiser, drop in subs/amps (hundreds of lb of weight), heavy chrome rims, hell everything and anything you can think of (Crystal bottle with 2 flutes in the rear center armrest section for example, refridgerated of course) the full on custom job car, why? cuz its never gonna be a racer so dont even bother...

For what its worth, you get more respect driving a slower but more luxurious Lexus than some someone in a *yawn* scion.

Course if your young yet and you still NEED the speed, then yea you bought the wrong car... course you knew this going in

I don't think so. The gearing on the manual tC is very short in first and second. I owned one. I know exactly what they'll do. It's not about losses, it's about gearing and mass.

I'm sorry.......why did you buy the 250 in the first place ???? Didn't you read up, didn't you test drive ?????

I really don't understand some people when they say these things. If you're out for fast, then buy a fast car. The 250 is not fast, not suppose to be fast, and never claimed to be fast. I don't get it these days....

you're right that there will always be a faster car out there...but it sure is nice to be faster than 95% of them :-)

the 350 is not the fastest car out there, but i dont see many cars on a daily basis that i know i cant beat.

I commute between worcester and the suburbs of boston every day, and i'll see maybe a car a day that can beat me or give me a good race..(M3, 335i, S4, and maybe an exotic here and there)

its just a nice feeling, makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

at least when an acura/civic or something comes up next to me and wants to race, i can laugh them off and say to myself...."why prove it...he knows i'm faster"

I really don't see why Lexus made the 250 a 204HP car.. They should have least put the 245 HP V6 in the car that came in the 06+ GS300.. at least it would be a little more faster than most cars.. I'm sure it is faster than most cars out there but look at other cars like the TSX, SI, etc that already have 200 HP and are light cars that can really move.. THe 250 isn't a light car so more HP is needed...I'm sure there's a night and day difference between the 250 and 350 cars..

This is sad, just goes to show that even though toyota/lexus are supposed to be the same; they don`t share any info about production models. This souldn`t be allowed to happen IMO.
