Good call...I was thinking of doing that but wasn't sure what I would seal that with.

If you can make another of that side, you could make the hole smaller, and put the rubber liner around the whole, and then have to slide the intake tube snug onto it.

Thanks...

Hey Caoboy, I didn't fabricate the piece that you are speaking of because that came with the FIPK kit. I see what you are saying but I feel that the one metal side helps sturdy the rest of this CA "box".

PM me your address and I will mail you a stencil on oversized paper (the parts are too big for regular paper for an attachment). Giving dimensions would be hard because there are many curves and angles to deal with. LMK

You guys might also want to consider getting some of the high heat 3m stick-on insulation sheets to put on this when you build it to help keep some of the engine heat out of the cold air box. That's what Kaju did on the similar boxes he built for the SRT intakes (I had one on mine before I sold the SRT intake and did the supercharger).

Pics from 2002, you can see the insulation on the side of the box where the intake tube enters it from the engine bay.

Yes, It does make it a little more quiet...but not by much. It also helps keep the filter cleaner. An even better model would be to completely "seal" the box (mine has little spaces here and there) and make a 3.5" circle cutout on the sheet metal floor behind the passenger headlight, run an intake pipe to feed the air from the outside via the lower air dam in the bumper back to the sealed air box. That would work the best.
