gs3 gs4 transmission question

Default gs3 gs4 transmission question

hi guys

i tried searching and asking around but nobody knows...

does the gs400 and a gs300 share the same transmission?

Yes

The 2nd gen GS300/GS400/GS430 all use the A650E transmission.

They are the same except for the obvious bell housing difference and maybe the TC has a different stall speed(not sure about that).

Correct my friend! The stall speed is different and the bell housing is also, which is why we GS400/430 guys can't slap in the GS300 torque converter.

But as far as the rest of the tranny goes, its the same A650E tranny. Just minor differences.

i wonder if the gs3 torque conv has a higher stall?

Yes it does. the GS300 has a stall speed of ~3000 rpm.

hmm i wonder if it mates up in the gs400 tranny n runs fine... that would be a cheaper method to having a higher stall

Unfortunately, the torque converters are not interchangeable

The way it connects to the 2jz and the 1uz is different.

Believe me, if it could be done, I'd be the first to do it.
