Question Question: ECT PWR Mode and ECU "Driving Style Learning"

Okay, so a lot of people here have tried (and some do regularly) resetting the ECU (via pulling the fuse) to clear out the usually overly conservative style of acceleration that the ECU has learned and now uses only to have it go basically back to normal shortly after.

So my question is this: I am thinking of leaving the ECT mode set to PWR all the time, but Im worried that after a short while of driving like that, the ECU will "learn" a more conservative driving style even while Im in PWR mode which would ruin my PWR mode all together until I reset my ECU again. Is this the case or will PWR mode always be PWR mode?

Also if I have not expressed or explained anything correctly or properly here please let me know so that I have a better understanding of how the ECU and ECT stuff really works. Thanks guys!

Snow in heavy traffic. (and inclement weather)

Normal for mixed driving.

Power for spirited driving.

I just get in and drive. My foot can tell the car what I want to do and how fast I want to do it.

I'm always in normal. I tried PWR mode once when I wanted to have a little fun, but I noticed no difference. The tranny seems to react fine when I get on it... at least from a stop.

Yea from a stop PWR mode wont make a difference, but when your driving in other gears with PWR mode on you should notice a big difference as to how much more sensitive the gas pedal feels and how more quickly the trans will drop a gear to give you more power.

ben, i know what your saying, if you leave it in pwr and drive conservatively will the ecu in pwr mode adjust to that... thats a good question. try call... service and ask... not like they'd know... but i myself think its a factory setting thats ROM, read only memory.

You leave it in pwr thou, your gonna be holding gears and even with your 250 your mileage will go down, i vote No.

Huh, how about that.

I'm the only one who drives in SNOW mode most of the times.

I drive in SNOW mode most of the times, because it saved me lots of gas.

And it probably saved me from getting any speeding tickets.

Also, whenever I turn SNOW mode off, it makes my car feel like a Ferrari...to me.

So driving in SNOW mode most of the time really helps me appreciate the 204 HP.

Yea I know it will cost me more in gas, I have already seen those effects from it, I am just getting to be point that Im kinda scared to use it based on all that I have read about the ECU resetting and driving style learning and what not. I kinda feel like I dont want to use it very much for fear that I will use it up and it wont be there anymore! lol

Yes I have heard that SNOW mode can save a lot of gas. I intend to try that for an entire tank of gas to see how I do, I just havent dont it yet.

I am almost always in PWR mode. The only time I switch to normal mode is when I have passengers in the car, so its not as jerky when accelerating. I use snow mode only in excessive traffic, but rarely.

I tried snow for traffic but when traffic has a fast pocket the car initially reacts to slow so i just keep it in normal mode. I use power mode on the twisties and when i know im going to be driving in a spirited way.
