How did your tuning ultimately work out for you? Being an olds DSM guy, I know that a:f and timing make a huge difference. If I am not mistaken, you did state that Lexus seemed to have the a:f pretty good. I think I remember reading that you gained somewhere between 8-12hp on the dyno chart but the car "felt" better.
There ain't no way your old MR2 piggy-back would work, and even if it did, it wouldn't make as much of a difference (percentage wise).
maybe you're right, but I may contact the local installer just to see what they say. The Unichip is a universal chip, not one designed specifically for my MR2, so in theory it would just need the appropriate wiring harness to adapt to the IS ECU. The local place specializes in tuning Zs and I think they have reported some decent results with tuning with the Unichip on the 350Z so maybe they can make something happen.
I contacted Unichip and asked them about the IS350, here is what they had to say:
Unfortunately we do not have a Plug and Play solution for your specific application. However, the Unichip system can be hardwired into virtually any vehicle. Just because we do not carry a Plug and Play solution does not mean that a Unichip cannot be fitted into your vehicle. However, the unit, like I mentioned would have to be hardwired into your system, by a Unichip Custom Tuner. At that time, the Tuner could also create a performance map that would work correctly with your Lexus. So, in a round-a-bout way, your current Unichip that is in your Spyder would satisfy the needs of your Lexus, it would need to be modified, that’s all. I would recommend speaking with any one of our qualified Unichip Custom Tuners. They can be searched on our website here at
