$676 is expansive while you can get Borla S/S for $400 shipped. Those look great, sound great, and work great! 7 to 8 horsepower gain. Borla is no joke.
RacingAristo:
Where did you get your Borla exhaust for $400 shipped? I am in the market for an exhaust and was seriously considering the Borlas. I had the Borla XR-1 exhaust on my '98 Vette and it was quite loud, but I hear that the exhaust for the Lex is somewhat quite. Not sure whether to go with the Greddy or blitz and keep this car what it is an "import". Any input?
Thanks,
Mike
$400 for borla thats a great price are they the carbon fiber tips or are they diffrent I liked the carbon fiber I saw them on a gs400 they looked nice and I think they would mach my c/f interior very nicely
I ordered mine from www.summitracing.com
It's Borla Stainless Steel exhaust, not the carbon fiber one. I just did a quick search. The carbon fiber one costs you $427.39 item number Bor-11729.
So while I'm enamored of the idea of a throaty acceleration, could you roughly quantify how much louder the exhaust makes the car at normal cruising speeds?
Like many of the people on this forum, I'm trying to achieve the perfect balance between sportiness and luxury/comfort. I drove '60s Mustangs for ten years and have had my fill of cars in which one can't have a conversation!
I was in the same situation as you are now. The car is quiet during cruising and once you turn on the stereo for low to median, you couldn't even hear the exhaust.
I'm in Austin TX too. I have Greddy PE cat back system on my GS4. Send me a email if you like to have some personal experience with the throaty acceleration
Those are twin tips right? and they fit in the stock cutouts? I already have the Borlas, but it'd be nice to check out the L-tuned exhaust if you can post the pics.

I have the Borla c/f.
I got them from carparts.com for under $400. best thing to do is call them and work with a salesman on the price. Summitracing.com also has them.
I think the Borla SS were also about the same price.
the c/f are loud at 1800-2100 rpm...you will set off every car alarm in the parking lot. hahahaha.
They replace the rear section.
I have used Borla Carbon Fiber Exhaust that I would be willing to sell for $200 if anyone is interested. I would also consider a trade for l-tuned steering ecu. Other trades also welcomed drop me an email to denisg@netlabs.net if you are interested.
Guys - If ya go to the old site, I did some serious R&D for all of ya regarding the S/S Borlas from Summit including part numbers & pricing, along with the turnaround time on them. I have the S/S & compared them to the C/F of a friend & I couldn't hear my stereo over HIS Borlas! Also, installation of them shouldn't take more than 20 minutes as they just replace the factory mufflers directly & don't involve any special tools, not even ramps if your GS isn't lowered!
