Default Look at this!

I happen to land on this article about the testing and tuning of the intake for the 06/07 ISX50. This article talks about K&N Typhoon intake for the ISX50 have a gain of nearly 7 RWHP. I've been reading numerous threads about different intakes from this forum and clublexus forum and it seem like its all personal preference as to which style, color, and brand. All of them states horsepowers gains but does anyone know which makes the most?

I don't buy this test one bit. No way in hell that intake netted more power than the exhaust.

from what i have read the DYNO readings are a bit misleading. the DYNO results can be influenced my several factors (i.e. type of DYNO, tempature at time of run). IMHO when you are talking about 7 hp increase the "fudge" factor really makes a huge difference. ANYWAY, to answer your questions, I think you will never get a CONCRETE/DEFINATIVE answer of which exhaust/intake generates the most HP or rwhp.

the only "concrete/definative" answer to any intake/exhaust mod is that they make more noise, any power increase can be attributed to "fudge" and are negligible. that being said, a lot of these mods are "worth it" just for the sound factor

Hey James how come you dont believe the intake can gain the amount of HP claimed? I have a K20 and with just an intake HP jumps 12-14HP, so an intake CAN increase power by that much. And for the exhaust it doesnt state if its the street or off-road version, but to me the offroad will net more power. Just my 2cents.

Car dependent. The IS350 will NOT gain more than 5 peak whp with any intake you throw on it period. Also, no matter what exhaust you throw on the IS350, you will not get more than 10 peak whp. This includes every exhaust on the market today and in the future be it x pipe, h pipe and modified stock. It hurts to hear, but this is the honest truth so don't be misled.

**edit** you can and probably will gain more than my stated numbers above if the car has FI, NOS or serious internal engine work.

PS..I too have had positive experience in the past with intakes. One such example was my old 95 Integra GS-R sedan. AEM CAI gave me +12 peak whp on the dyno!... but every car is different.

My first gen IS, I had an Injen intake, Greddy catback and I didn't notice any gains other than sound factor. Thus the reason why I turbocharged it.
Now that I 've moved on to the 2nd gen IS, I 've add the Fabulous resonator back exhaust for the look factor. I seriously doubt any gains from the exhaust. I don't want any loud noise if no HP gains come out of it which is why my question is here.

This statement is Very Good!!!!!

"Peak" being the key word!!

I would like to add that some of my / others research on the IS350, is pretty much summed up with the above statement...

... when using a "Dyno Jet" system for testing Intakes and/or Exhausts.

Also, just about every IS350 INDEPENDENT Dyno Test I have seen personally on the West coast or East coast members tests,
are pulling an avg of 265 Rwhp in their Base Runs using 4th gear ...

BTW - I have personally seen one pull 275 rwhp..... ( however Not stock )
