98 gs400 wont start after K & N intake installed

What happens when you turn the key? May be a silly question but did you re-connect the battery?

it struggles to turnover, batterys connected. i may need to change the mass air flow sensor?

go to your local auto part store and look for CRC Mass Air Sensor cleaner.
Gently clean the MAF. It's probably dirty by now anyways.
But before that, try having someone jump start you. If the engine is struggling to start, then is probably the battery. Usually when the MAF is bad, the engine will start and then stop. At least thats what happpens usually when I work on car

Try jumping the car first, if that fails... then try cleaning the MAF sensor...
MAF sensor aint cheap either...

i just got my GS400 so cant tell you much but whatever you do do not touch the MAF element.

Just a crazy thought. Assuming you did not damage the MAF sensor did you make sure it was pointed in the right direction?
