Default Yes, Another TC Question Regarding CEL..

Hey guys this topic has been beaten to death, I will beat it a little more. . Mainly for the 430 guys, did anyone SOLVE the problem on installing 2800 TC and not get the CEL? Also from what I read 2001 430's have less of a chance to get the CEL for some apparent reason.. I have an 04 SC430 and this mod I been wanting to do it for the longest..

I remember talking to Mo at SRT about a year ago on the phone, he said he could install the TC without having the CEL light come on, I didn't get a chance to ask him to elaborate on how he can do it.. I don't know what he can do in which we are puzzled on how to solve this annoying problem..

I know that supposively there is an extra sensor in the 430 that triggers the CEL and not something major. I don't want to get it and "hope" the CEL doesn't come on.. That is something I don't want to do.

Thanks guys, there MUST be a way..

The thing is, mechanical problems are easier to diagnose than electrical problems. I wish I could give you an answer to what you're looking for, but I dont

Thanks guys for the replies...

Yeah I doubt Mo would do that , that would be screwed up.. Oh well, kinda surprised that after all these years NO ONE can come up with a solution to the CEL problem.. You could easily disable the light but there is NO WAY that I am going to do that.

JPI will be installing a 3000 rpm stall TC converter on my GS430 next week. He says there will be no CEL light coming on and won't be removing the bulb. I'll keep you posted.

That is interesting .. I am glad you are testing this out.. One thing I am confused about.. Correct me if I am wrong, isn't the reason on a GS430 the CEL light comes on is higher stall speed (in many cases installing 2800 stall PI TC) which the extra sensor on the 430 picks up thinking there is something wrong, so I read you are installing 3000 stall speed? Wouldn't that be a guarantee CEL light?? If JPI finds a way, he would be the man !!!

I never had a CEL come on and have had the PI TC with 2800 RPM stall for at least 20K miles. I did have Mo install it himself back in 2002.

I am glad it worked out so far for you.. If I remember correctly only 2001 430's have a much less chance of getting CEL than 02+.. Its almost a definite that 02+ 430's will get CEL.. I have never seen or at least I didn't find it on here of ANY 02+ 430 owners installed TC and didn't get CEL.. I could be wrong though but I hope JPI can solve this.....

Interesting thread. You mentioned a 3000 stall...would going from a 2800 stall to a 3000 stall make THAT much of a difference in performance? If so, what enhanced negative effects could it have over the 2800 stall converter?
