Default IS300 Auto Transmission

I've got a 2001 IS300. I've been having problems w/ the shifting from 2nd to 3rd every once in a while. The shift is very jerky. I've heard that its a problem w/ the first IS300 made. I called my dealership, and they refused to do anything about it. And i called lexus customer service, and they said i have to duplicate the problem w/ the technician. Any of you guys know anything, or have any suggestions. Thanks

If your dealership does not know (or pretends not to know), about the update tell them to look up the following Technical Service Information Bulletin:
TSIB EG003-01

It has been officially released and available now. The update is a two part update depending on your problems, one is an engine ECU update program and the second is replacement of the TRAC ecu.

The ECU reprogram update affects all IS300s whose VIN number is LOWER/BEFORE 10025186

The TRAC ECU replacement affects all IS300s whose VIN number is LOWER/BEFORE 10029014

These is no specific Manufacture date but VIN number verification.

Default DOESNT START AT 2ND

mine doesnt start in 2nd when i put to manual just after i started the car. i noticed this since it got colder. but after maybe a minute, or driving in auto, it goes back to normal. i can downshift to 2nd. does anybody experienced this? is it the intake/ecu, exhaust or just the weather. i need advices from the veterans here.

thank you.

p.s
the car runs fine.

even if it says 2 when your in amnual mode it will start in 1st gear.. the numbers in manual mode just hold it to that gear. you can drive in manual in with 5 lit up and the car will drive as if you are in auto.. all it does is holds youto that gear so you can get more RPMs out of the grear.

Default doesnt shift to 2nd at start

grey_is300

thanks! but why is it doing that,? i'm just worried maybe the ecu got screwed up with the srt intake i got including the ecu upgrade. i'm kinda afraid to go to the dealership coz they might void my warranty and blame it to what i did tap in the ecu. i'll probably take it off one time and put the stock back and see what happens. if it goes alright, my srt intake/ecu will be on sale.

Wow, holy thread resurrection...

Did you install the mass air flow sensor the correct direction?

Also, is it a K&N brand, or a knockoff? The pipe also K&N brand or knockoff?
