Arrow code PO161

i had a diagnois test done at auto zone and the troubleshooting code was
P0161. It said it found a malfunction in the heater circuit for oxygen sensor 2 in bank 2. What does this mean to me and what will be the cost to get repaired. Should i go to toyoto dealership for repair. What harm is this doing to my car the longer i wait for repair. My extended warranty said they would cover it soi may take it to the lexus dealership. i only have a $100 deductible.

dealer for $100 asap, but remove any intake, exhaust mods you have on your car. i have heard some places will void warranty for moded vehicles.

The "HEATED" O2 sensor is heated by electricity from the computer just as soon as the engine is started. Standard NON-HEATED O2 sensors wait on the exhaust temperature before the catalyst is hot enough to do its' job. I would say that 100% of all cars produced today have heated O2 sensors. Bank 1 is the drivers's side, and bank 2 is the passenger side. The sensors are usually accessible from inside the car on the floorboard beneath the carpet in the front seat area, one on each side. Once they fail to electrically heat, the code appears.

Good luck on getting this fixed.
