Default IS250 + HKS Exhaust

To those who have HKS exhaust on an IS250...

How's the difference in power? I've heard gains of 12-18 horsepower are possible with the HKS system. Is it noticeable?

Thanks.

i doubt it will gain that much...

for the 250 mods should be based on looks and sound excluding FI (IMO)... theres only so much power you can get with bolt-ons...

Which HKS exhaust? One is produced by HKS for Lexus, and the other is produced and distributed by HKS, and is a little more aggressive. Neither will give anywhere close to the HP gains you are talking about, especially on a 250. I would be surprised if you got 5 HP from either of them.

Most people say no different but i have the hks exhaust from that dealer and had it installed last month, i felt a difference but the biggest plus was the sound. i get compliments everywhere i go and from all my friends and they are very forward. the most gain i feel is from my intake (injen short ram). going to the dyno soon and will post. the good thing is i have dyno sheet from my car before mods so will show real gains hopefully. i raced my friends G35 and beat him through first and second by about a half a car ............but after that he pulls hard .........

Exactly...best mod you could have done was pay $4K more for the 350 at the dealer. If you want speed, trade up.

I wouldn't be surprised if you LOSE power on the low end and gain a little on the high end when you dyno your car. So many people think that bolting on a 10whp intake + 5whp exhaust means, "I gots 15hp now yo and I feel it". That's rice math and it doesn't work like that. Bolt-ons can shift power curves, sometimes for the worse.

Neither of the ones you mention are from the dealer (ie OEM Lexus). The HKS Hi Power is the retail HKS version. The Carbon Ti is a custom exhaust. The OEM Lexus unit that is built by HKS is just called "High Performance Lexus Exhaust", or something.
