Lextreme TC installed. WOW!!!
highway or city? or combined? in the city, what speeds to you get up to?
the more the convertor is slipping from dead stop to any speed, the more it'll kill the mileage. my city driving was still 15-16mpg after the TC, but I can get up to 40mph frequently in town.
that city block stuff he mentioned is what hurts mileage the most.

I heard that it's pointless to get a TC for a GS3 because the stall speed is 2600rpm on the stock vs. the aftermarket one for a GS4 which is 2800rpm. I honestly don't understand how the TC works but what would happen if I were to get a TC with a higher or lower stall speed say 4000rpm or 2000rpm? The question is just for comparison and to know the purpose.
With all the PI TC's out there you might be able to pick up a stock TC cheap to send in and keep you stock one. Thats what I did, I plan to keep my stock one for when I sell and if owner doesn't what the hight stall TC.
I have a few more mods and then I'll install mine. The local shop that seem like they know what they are doing gave me a price of $450 to install.
Does that seem high?? I think I heard installs going for $350 - $400.

I have the Precision Industries torque converter.
Gil, I think that 450 is still a decent deal. I had quotes of 500-600 from dealers and local car shops but then I got a 'hook-up' from a friends contact and they did it on off-time for 325.

Being I only race the car a handful of times a year at track I am not that worried I would rather have a better passing speed and now I do.
Just installed the Lextreme 2800 stall TC. i would also have to say "wow". launches off the line is great and there is way more pull. i also have the supra 3.76 LSD and the combination TC and LSD is perfect.
i highly recommend to do these 2 mods first, if you want any performance out of your GS400. before these mods, i had the srt intake w/ecu. i felt a power loss, but it sounded great. then it got annoying, so i sold it and insatlled a drop-in k&n air filter. after that, i bought the supra 3.76 LSD. that was a great improvement, but LSD alone didnt satisfy me 100%. then i bought the Lextreme TC and felt a huge difference, with the combination of the LSD of course. now with power to the ground, i need to add more horsepower
