Default Do resonators affect performance?

Was having a debate with my brother the other day which went no where btw....
Anyway, we were contemplating on whether or not removing the resonators would harm the cars performance.

I remember reading a thread stating the exhaust system was free flowing so removing the resonators wouldn't change the performance. It was along time ago and i can't remember if thats what i read or not.

So, can anyone chime in here?

I highly doubt removing the resonators would change the performance of the car one way or another. It would likely sound a bit louder, but i doubt you'd see any performance gains or decreases... and if there was, it probably wouldnt be noticable..

Noise is about the only thing it will affect. I took mine off and replaced it with one from an Accord (much lighter weight and I love the sound), but no difference in performance.

It can depend, but mostly resonators are there for sound.
It's usually the mufflers that affect backpressure therefore affecting performance.
