Default Load% on OBD2

A friend of mine got an OBD2 sensor and software package recently. There is one thing we aren't quite sure of though: the load percent. Does anyone know what this number represents and its relation to horsepower?

The software doesn't change anything in your car's computer. What it does is hook up to your OBDII connector (basically a serial output from the various ECUs in your car) so that you can view and log all sorts of data...from O2 sensors to actual RPMs to whether or not you are running lean or rich. Basically it allows you to view virtually everything needed to "dial in" your car. Without a dyno, horsepower numbers are not exactly known, but if you installed an intake for instance, it would tell you how much air is actually being taken in...a useful number for determining if something really works like the manufacturer claims. The load% was just one variable you can look at. I'm fairly certain it has to do with the load being put on your car's engine (that's how dynos work...by increasing or decreasing the amount of load on your car's engine at given RPMs and calculating the response into horsepower). What I'm not sure of is how the load% from the OBDII output transforms to a horsepower number (if it has anything to do with HP in the first place)
