Default Jiffy Lube Transmission Drain & Fill

Hey just wondering I got my transmisson drained and filled at my local Jiffy Lube,( 2 1/2 quarts), I spoke to the manager who was servicing my car and asked if they had the Toyota/Lexus fluid he assured me that they did, my question.....should I dump the fluid and re-fill with Toyota fluid for a piece of mind or ride it out and change it on my next oil change ????

Well, as proof you could go back and look to see where they store the black tranny fluid containers that say Toyota ATF on the side?

You definitely don't want to run non-Toyota approved fluid. I would think with the liability of the Jiffy Lube to put non-approved fluid, it would be pretty crazy for them to try it.

from what I hear about jiffylube, its likely you have Toyota tranny fluid in the car....just because they probably didn't even drain it

I would drain and fill with fluid I purchased at Toyota; a couple of times over a couple of hundred miles.

No matter who's responsible, it's your transmission.

i sent an e-mail to jiffy-lube's corporate e-mail address asking how can they assure me that what happened in california won't happen in other states.

they still haven't responded to me.....i sent the e-mail on july 12, '06...i guess jiffy lube does not care about potential customer sentiment?

before everyone gets on to me for thinking i would go to jiffy lube, my disclaimer is that i don't go there at all, but i was curious as to what their reponse would be...

Default Try it yourself

As there are 8 -9 quarts of tranny fluid, and only 2 quarts can be drained at a time. It may not be an issue. But it is VERY easy to jack up the car and drain out 2 quarts yourself. Then put in two quarts and drive around for 5 minutes. Then repeat this process 5 more times and you will have effectively changed all the fluid. At $7/qt and about 4 hours of your time, effort well spent.

that would be a total waste of time, just drain the fluid out over a span of 5-20 mins if you want to make sure it is all out of there. But

Josh, maybe there is a trick you know of to get the fluid to all come out, but only 2 or so quarts came out for me.

do it when the fluid is a little warm, you can do it that way or simply let it sit and drain for a while.

Well, I did it 6 times in a row, very hot fluid and still never got more than 2 quarts. Laws of physics apparently don't apply in my garage...
