Installed: Joe Z Intake Pipe
It's looking like the stock intake "tube" would be the same diameter. I'd be curious to hear how swapping it out for a painted one is going to result in any power gains?
I'm thinking...it's a psychological thing. In any case, it does look nicer

Inside the JoeZ intake its perfectly smooth and straight no resonator, you will have more consistant and higher air flow rates which the engine needs at mid-high rpms. Thats why you have gains
Now we just need a good dyno proven drop in filter to work with the JOEZ pipe and it will be a finished product. Only one available that I know of right now is the HKS one, but i'm going to hold off and wait for a dry filter to be released.

freaking johnny! how dare you call me rice! I'm going to your house and stealing yo bling blings.
Ichigo, Well, the only other place I considered is the rear window on the bottom where the third brake light is. I wanted to place it somewhere different, that location reminded me of another club sticker my friend had put on his old car.
imaputz, Yeah I didn't remove the negative battery cable. No point IMO. The car will learn the new airflow in due time anyway. But that's just me, an extra step that isn't necessary.
I'm also waiting for a nice drop-in filter. I might pick up the Blitz filter once it's available.

I received my Blitz drop-in filters last week, installed it in like 10 minutes. Just figure I post a update and a easy way to install the filter if you have a Joe Z intake. Unlike the 1IS, the top of the filter box is now attached to the intake pipe itself, so it's not as easy as pop it off and remove the filter. For a IS with a stock pipe, it's easy just bend it up.
With the Joe Z, the easiest way is to loosen one worm clamp from the throttle body side. The clamp that is one on the INTAKE side, loosen it enough and move it up towards the throttle body. THEN you can lift the air box with the Joe Z intake up and swap filters. Here are a couple of pictures.
Hope this helps anyone planning to install a drop-in with a Joe Z intake.
*NOTE* Make sure you unplug the MAF sensor harness first.
