Turbo Kits
I have an 01 IS, and am looking for a good turbo kit. I am currently talkig to Swift Racing out of MD, about the stage 3 they have. if you know anyone running one of these kits please let me know. thanks guys.
I am also interested in talking to someone about a turbo kit vs a supercharger kit. Which one will deliever the the most bang for my buck and also I have heard that you have to be careful about putting on a turbo, because it might crack the block. Plus will it void the warrenty?
Thanks

EZZARD.....how do you like the 2.5? what else did you do besides the srt bolt on kit, as in internals or anything like that? What PSI? I just talked to Mo the CEO of SRT and he quoted me a reasonable price for his stage 3. i just dont feel safe driving the car at the rec. PSI (being 18) SRT is now also running a haltech standalone obviously better than there emanage from before. the only other reputable company that i have seen fisrt hand was TURBO EAST. they run 14PSI on there stage 2.5
Honestly I feel the kit has a little more in it. My car's only two passes at Moroso (Palm Beach Gardens, Fl) were a 13.4 and a 13.2 trapping 108 and 109 respectively at 14psi. I have the 440cc injectors, emanage blue, full 3" with cat, 60-1 turbonetics. The car at its current state needs a tuning session because I have problems with the idle and I think I am running a tad bit on the rich side.
I would like you to know that if you do go with SRT, get the turbo manifold ceramic coated. My manifold has cracked in two and I am waiting for a replacement. Funny thing is that I've found 2 other cases where the manifold cracked on two other cars in the same manner.
I think that the updates to the kits (garrett turbos, haltec, 550s) should provide a better basis and an overall better running car than their previous kits. I do have the ARP studs and 2.8mm headgasket to help with reliability when adding more boost.
So to sum it all up:
I enjoy the car now but I am going to have to go with a standalone, 720s, gt35r because their older kits are lacking. If the price is reasonable then I would go for it. You can always lower the boost. I drive around on 6psi and when the action gets hot, I turn it up.

If you're in MD, check out PFS ( www.pfsupercars.com ) and TurboEast ( www.turboeast.com ) in addition to SRT. Also, search through the go faster forum of http://my.is . There is a wealth of information about boost (for the first gen IS) to be found there.

Just go to my space, and type search for Lexus IS. You wil see a bunch of highly tuned Lexus, personal videos.
I ve heard of this guy in Miami, he has an IS 700 hp. I found his car on my space but unfortunatelly cant seem to be able to find anymore.

Yes you can, but there are limits to how much power the OEM tranny will hold.
