Default 01 GS 300, looking for engine mods

Anyone out there with ideas, experience or general advice on quality engine, exhaust or computer mods for an 01 gs 300? If you're partial to a particular brand, their name and product name would be awesome.

Everything is fair game less a supercharger.

Thanks in advance for any help.

just a few things you can do:

intake
exhaust
S-AFC.

Those are the easiest and safest mods you can do now. They all work together. It's better to get the intake and exhaust, then get the S-AFC and tune it. However with N/A cars you really can't get much from air/fuel correction.

Some MORE risky mods are:

cam gear
pulleys

Risky I mean no one has done it yet and don't know the results or if they will do any harm.

I would say start with intake and exhaust. Which one is up to you. It's more important to pick out the ones that you think sounds and looks nice. Performance, you're better off with Japanese barrel types like HKS Hiper, Blitz NURspec, GReddy P/E, and APEXi N1s. Intake there are Weapon R, RMM, SRT. Read other posts for comparisons.

Globe,

I'm really new to this stuff so forgive my ignorance.

I understand the intake and exhaust, but what is an S-AFC?

Would you pin down a particular intake and exhaust to your favorite models?

Thanks for an awesome reply to my initial post!!

S-AFC is the Super-Air/Fuel Controller made by APEXi. AFC is used to control the air/fuel ratio of your car. For example you can get the intake and exhaust to get better airflow into and out from the engine, but if the engine doesn't give more fuel to allow a better combustion then there wont' be that much of a difference. Use the AFC to rich up the fuel, so you get a bigger blast, hence better performance. (Air/Fuel 101).

Almost all of the big tuners have some kind of AFC. APEXi, HKS, GReddy, Blitz, etc. Everyone is different but works the same way.

Intake I would go with Weapon-R for now, but I can't say which one is better. Just personal preference now.

Exhaust is the same. I can't say which one is better than what, and it's hard to measure the gain from each exhaust because hardly anyone dynos their GS with just exhaust. That's why I say choose one that looks good and sounds good to you. THEN worry about performance. AFC will sum it up. Personal preference is APEXi N1 mufflers, simply because they don't have it for the GS300~ (well they do but not a dual exhaust) and NO ONE has it except for me now . And I love how it looks and sounds.

hope this helps.

Can I use the S-AFC w/ my SRT ECU Intake? And how much would it cost?
