Default So I floored my car today...

My car was greatly taken care of by the previous owner. All the oil changes except two were done at Lexus and it has seen mobil 1 syn. oil all its life basically.

My car is stock, other than the K&N drop in filter that came with the car.

I've noticed that when I floored the car while the tranny was in 1st gear, 1st gear absolutely sucks. The pull is on the weak side. I know it's not my engine because once the tranny goes into 2nd gear, holy crap my ***** become detached from my body and lands somewhere in the back passenger seat.

So I'm going to conclude that our 1st gear isn't that great of a gear for acceleration. I wish Lexus had increase 1st gear ratio just a tad whee bit, but then again, some people wouldn't be able to control their cars off the line (the older executive people ya know?)

I just ordered some Torquemaster spark plugs in hopes of increasing a bit of power (I'm not expecting turbocharged power), and increase in fuel economy. It's time I change the spark plugs anyways since my current ones have almost 40k miles on them.

Anyone else have input to this?

i have the TM sparks and they help, the response time is reduced and it feels more responsive, as for actual power gains i'm not sure, but they seem to be very good!

good luck~ i'm sure there are other mod's you can do as well such as the torque converter, limited slip differential and maybe even a valve body upgrade..

A TC and 3.76lsd will get you off the line a whole lot quicker Do a search on TC and 3.76lsd
and read all about those two mods

The only thing keeping me from doing those mods is gas mileage. I'm already getting a lofty 13mpg because I drive 98% city and there is a stoplight every 15 seconds or so. I am contantly accelerating and decelerating.

TC would just use more gas for me, even though I'm sure off the line power would be nice. Not to mention, PI TC alone is about $800 bucks, then I have to factor in labor.

Anyone know about those lextreme rebuilt TC? For the price, they seem like a steal.
And besides, I like having sleeper mods. It's nice to know i can pull on some people, but when they look under the hood, all they see is stock!

I dont want intake because I'm going to compromise low end torque, which I wont be too thrilled about.

How old were the plugs you replaced?

Exactly. Too bad you can't part out your car. I might just get the 3.76 LSD, but who knows. I might be rompin the throttle a bit too much

As the old saying goes "If you wanta play you got to pay" Performance gains = lower mpg but = more fun

I just cleaned out my MAF and used seafoam on my engine.

All I can say is HOLY CRAP it made a difference. It's smoother now. I am not kidding. I am happy. I drove my sister around (I picked up my sister from school) and she asked if I did any mod to my car because it felt like it had more power. I didn't even tell her anything about my car yet . Not to mention, when I did the seafoam treatment, there was A LOT of smoke coming out of my exhaust. I think I will do a second treatment next week since my car has 126k miles on it already. I bet the internal is filled with lots of carbon deposit.

I haven't even reset the ECU yet, nor have I installed my torquemaster plug.

muahahah

thanks. lol

I actually had my CRC MAF cleaner for weeks now. I just didn't do it on my car because it looked new. If anything, I think the seafoam helped more because i'm sure those carbon deposits are harming my performance more than anything else right now.

Have you already used seafoam?

No need for seafoam here....only 46K on the odom. But I am a firm believer in that stuff for higher mileage vehicles.

I kinda wish you did the MAF first and then drove it to see if you felt the difference of cleaning that.

I did do the MAF first. I drove to autozone to get seafoam.

It did make my car a tad whee more responsive, especially when i'm cruising and then I tapped it to get some passing power.

Thought my MAF did look pretty clean already. I guess it didn't hurt to clean it.
