What do you mean turn over?
U hear the engine not turning.
Its just like hearing the car trying to start before it actually does.
Itmakes the sound ke ke ke ke keh
Thats the best i could do.

My dad say its about time to replace the start motor because we are over the 100,000 marker.
Is he right?

BTW is there some type of mabe circuit breaker to prevent further damage, that perhaps i could flip back? Just a thought.

Also any suggestions as to which starters are good or are they all the same?
Thanks

I've also done this on my first GS4, and though it stopped the engine immediately, it always started back up with no problem.

It is possible that the bendix gear is finally worn out. You say that you have over 100.000 miles, but that shouldn't be a problem, as many of us are approaching that figure, and many are already over it.

Make sure your battery connections are tight. You might disconnect them, clean and inspect everything and reconnect. If you are hearing a grinding sound, or one where the starter is obviously trying to start, then the starter will most likely have to be replaced.

It CAN be a DIY, but most people will choose to have someone else change it for them. Most of the cost of this will be in the labor.

GOOD LUCK!

This will NOT be a DIY for this gentleman unfortunately. Take your car to a shop that does a charging system check for free.

if the starter is turning over then how can that be the problem, I think the issue is elsewhwere and it definitely is not DIY for most.

double start it won;t damage the car unless you turn the key for over 5 min and fry your starter!!
It is the problem elsewhere.. just go battery connection first.. or even a lose gas cap!
Try everything before you go to a mechanic shop..
