Default Help with Fuel Management

Guys,

Need help tuning a GS400 with RMM SC kit. Emanage does not work and SAFC seems too basic. Kind of scared to have to remove my entire ECU wiring for a standalone. Any ideas/suggestions?? Problem is running too rich.

you might be able to get by with the AFC. Do you have a true wideband in the car?

No - I don't have a wideband in the car. Any recommendations??

Mikal - I would go standalone but I can't seem to find anyone who has one wired in on their GS400 so I don't want to dive into unchartered waters!!

I see, As for the wideband, you can have it like how me, ken and jp430 have it.

http://www.plxdevices.com/M-Series_productinfo.htm

You can put that on the center vent where the clock is at.

Having tried two different Widebands. I would recomend the FJO or any other wideband that uses the NTK (VW) sensor. I would not recomend any wideband using the plain bosch 4 wire (LSU?) sensor.

When I get the car tuned, my tuner uses a wideband. Is this not enough?? Are the wideband benefits going to warrant a $350 purchase?

Thx,
jonny

You do not need a Wideband to run the RMM. It is just a nice to have and allows you to tune the SAFC to some extent by yourself.

The wideband also allows you to monitor your engine so that if you were to run lean for some reason you would know before you had serious issues (hopefully)

Just have the SAFC tuned by your tuner on the Dyno, you will be fine.

... Just from previous experience, If I mod my car in the slightest (performance wise) I will be investing in an in car wideband.

I dyno tuned my last car using the dyno's wideband instead of my in car because I thought the dyno wideband was more accurate versus my in car WB. Well, after leaving the dyno I found out that the tune was crap. My car ran so rich it wouldn't boost worth a crap. Hell, I lost a race to a civic. Well, that night I street tuned it using my WB and all was well. ( supra)
