Pull out the ECU -1B fuse for an hour.

Then go to autozone or somewhere and clear the codes.

It is in the fuse box under the hood. Look on the back of the cover and it will lead you to the fuse. I believe it is at the bottom on the left side.

Yes they are. Ask them if you can borrow their scanner and have someone go outside with you. You can clear the code and give it back to them. This is what I did when I installed my SRT Intake.

Good luck,
Jonny

i'm a little confused as well... am i to understand that disconnecting the battery clears the CEL light, but what will happen if the codes stay in the ecu?

The codes do stay in the ECU - go to autozone and get the scanner to clear the codes - but if it's a hard code - it'll come back - thats what happened to me - i even put back inthe stock intake and i still have a code - p0161.

have to tak it to get checked out -

Johnny - thanks for the autozone advice.

What is the code? I'm sure it's the P0171, Lean conditon. Have someone check your long and short fuel trim. Hook up the vaccum and tell us that numbers you are getting at idle? Find out the problem and fix it. Don't just disconnect the battery and hope for the best.

long and short and fuel trim? what is that? this is the exact code (cyl. bank 1) i'm getting for the hks intake setup in our 99 gs400 (it came with the car). everyone blamed the intake and the dealer threatened to charge straight time to diagnose. all i've done so far is disconnect the battery and re/re the entire intake setup right to the throttle body. so far... no cel.

one thing that i've noticed though... the cel always seems to come on when it's hottest outside (we're pushing past 30'c some days). but when it's cooler or at night, it never comes on... why is that?
