Guys,
I just installed the SRT Intake on my 98 GS400. I started the car and it idles, but then when I give it gas it dies and my CEL/VSC light comes on. I went through my wiring and it all looks right. The soldering also looks ok.
Anyone have any ideas??

Check to see if you put the MAF piece on upside down. It fits that way, and it causes similar problems. This is the plug in piece about halfway down the intake tube.
Another can be a lose air filter, make sure it is fully on the tube and tightened down.

Please explain?
Do you mean the plug, or do you mean the actual black piece that fits inside the tube?
Please let me know as I would love to drive the car tonight!!

Its the piece that plugs into the intake tube, think its held in by two bolts. It fits in upside down as well if I remember when I had mine. Try it the other way around if you didn't pay attention when you took it off and put it back on.

I tried it and it seemed to work in the beginning but then after giving it gas a couple of times it dies and the CEL light stayed on. This sucks!!
Guess I will have to try it all again tomorrow
Thx for the help though,

OK also make sure you don't have any gaps in the connections where it meets the engine, fits together or at the filter. Getting too much air in will cause the same problem.
Don't forget to flip it back the other way (assuming that was the right way)

There should be an arrow on the plastic bnody to indicate the direction of airflow. Look carefully and assemble it right.
THEN remove the negative battery cable for 30 minutes or more to clear the faults. The fact that youhave a check engine light indicates that you have set a code. The likely culprit is the airbox or any electrical connection that was not connected properly.
The car shoould not be driveable, as the throttle response is very bad.
Give it a try and report back.

Guys,
About to go back out and get started on it. I think I am going to remove all wiring and vacuum hoses and start over.
Looking at the problem - I know the 12v ( power is working.) Possibly a ground could be the problem. I checked the wiring several times so I know the right wires are used - was thinking that I will re-solder them.
Anyway, wish me luck and I will be back in a little while with hopefully better news!

OK guys,
Removed the entire intake and redid it. The car starts fine, but as soon as I hit around 1200 rpms the car dies. This happens whether I am reving the car in park or actually driving. Before I hit 1200 or so rpms the car runs fine.
This leads me to believe that it is the Ignition RPM wire ( purple) that is the problem but it seems fine
Very confused and upset as I want to drive my car.
Any ideas please let me know,
Thx,
Jonny

****LATEST****
Guys, ended up pulling the ECU B1for over an hour, as I had previously just pulled it for about 20 minutes.
Well, started right up and didn't die on me. Gave it some gas and it didn't die. Drove around the complex and didn't die. Got a little crazy and took it out on the streets - and lo and behold - DIDN't DIE!!!
So, went to Autozone and got the codes cleared and so far she has been running great. Hopefully will continue to do so!!
Long story short - after installing intake - pull fuse for 1 hr+ for a full reset.
Thx everyone for your help,
Jonny
