just read your post and I've gotta say that the gentleman that told you the horror stories about the tc really doesn't know what he's talking about. Not a knock on him - I'm sure that he knows a lot about what he usually does - just not about how a tc will affect your GS. Mine was installed by Davenport Motors in Plano. The owners (the 3 Davenport brothers) and 7-8 of their mechanics all came from Sewell Lexus and have many years of experience on them. They have an excellent reputation (even still among Sewell and Park Place mechanics). There was no concern about longevity or any other problem when they installed mine (about 3 years ago) and I couldn't be happier with it. No one - NO ONE - could drive the same car without a tc and drive it after and say that there was no improvement - that is plain bull**** - the man doesn't know what he's talking about. If you've read the threads on CL relative to the tc - you've seen numerous members (including me) who think that it is the single best thing I did to my '99 GS4. Let me know if I can help to convince you to take it somewhere else and do it.

Garnet92, I have a 01 GS430 and live in Plano. I have been reading the threads on the TC and noticed you had yours installed at Davenport. I had a my set of L-tuned shocks and springs installed there and those guys are great. Do you remember what they charged you for the install of the TC? Also, did you have them install a tranny cooler at the same time? I am now thinking about having one installed. I have an early production 01 so I hope the CEL will not happen on mine. Finally, would you mind letting me take a look at your car sometime? I really would like to hear what it sounds like with the SRT installed.

My 2001 GS430 was build 11/00. A poll may be in order for all 430 owners that have a TC and weather or not they have a CEL. I would really like to have one installed but just want to make sure I don't have to deal with the CEL.Originally Posted by GILLEXUS

It's been a few more months now can we get an update from the guys who have TC on 2001 430's. Any CEL lights come on yet?
Thanks
Thanks
I have a 2001. Bought TC in November '04. No light.
I do remember at the East Coast LexFest talking to someone from NY who said his Check Engine Light had been on for over 2 years, and the car rode like a dream anyway. It's probably not that big of a deal if it does come on and stay on.
