UPDATE - today my cel came on after about 500 miles with the PI TC. I though it must be something else because I've driven about 500 miles with the TC with no CEL so far. Anyway, I had it checked and the code was from the shift solonoid - so I'm guessing it does in fact have something to do with the TC. Anyway, the parts store guy cleared the cel - i'll let you guys know if/when it comes back on - hopefully it won't.
That sucks...sorry to hear about it. I'd be willing to bet that you're going to see that light come on again in the not to distant future.
Hey - if it comes on once every 500 miles - no big deal - I'll just go the parts store once a month and get it cleared in 2 minutes for free. Maybe I aught to buy one of those little diagnostic handhelds myself so I can see the code myself and clear it if it's just the shift solinoid.
Maybe the solution is to get less of a step up in stall speed. Maybe a 2400 would work without CEL but still give a nice increase in acceleration.
yeah but then with the money you spend i think it's kinda defeating the purpose, coz' you are only getting a fraction of what you are supposed to get. i would just live with the cel myself
you can just disconnect the battery and reset the cel
That will get rid of the cel but it will also clear out the drive cycles that contain all that emissions data. If his state does not use ODBII for testing, there will be no problem. On the other hand,
if ODBII is used, the cel light could come back on before enough drive cycles are recorded and then
its a crap shoot as to passing an emission test. and that's why I'm reluctant to put on a TC

if the state use the odbii during the testing, i believe they will see the thing with cel as well, even if you reset it. i believe after you reset the cel (with the tool), some records will be erased as well and you still have to drive a certain distance to meet that?
