Default Average power gain for a catback?

Hi fellas,
Over the weekend i got smoked by a 91 civic that had an absolutely knarley exhaust tone and an evil screaching sound in the engine bay. I was fairly humbled in my bone-stock GS3.

So know i am looking into an exhaust system... Probably the Apexi WS due to the reviews read here and the price is good, or maybe the HKS.

Anyways i was wondering what kind of powergain can i expect from a catback on my Inline 6?

Thanks Guys.

i don't know how many hp but it's probably insignificant. i wouldn't rely on power from the exhaust for a win imho. maybe 6 or 7 horses?

i think it's the weight advantage that helped the civic to win

Oh i'm pretty sure he had a lot on his side. well, i wasn't looking to be able to beat the guy the next we crossed paths, but just wanted to have something that will sound decent as i'm choking on his smoke.

Thanks Rom

Don’t feel bad. The stock gs3 is not a fast car and intake and exhaust mods won't add much either. Hondas and the like will always give you problems but what would you rather drive every day – a Honda or your Lexus? When I had my 00 gs3, I remember a civic si that embarrassed me. I had the pleasure of looking at his rear bumper all the way. My solution was to move up to a v8. After the warranty expired, I then proceeded to make it quicker with the addition of the 3.76lsd. Now if I can only have a re-match with that civic si.

He is a new CL member, Zeroism, I think is the name.
He got a cool 98 GS3, but I don;t have a pic now. He went back to Japan for couple month and is not back yet. Well, I think he know the CEO of JP well and always get stuff drity cheap from him and Japan(man, good to be a Japanese!!)
Anyway, I will try to psot his car with mine once he come back. A white GS3 and Black GS4, should look good together!

Well a lot of people made the mistake of adding up horsepower as they add mods to the car. But it doesn't work that way. Many people slap on an intake (3-5hp) and an exhaust (3-5hp) and then claimed that they gained 6-10hp from the process.

Most likely you will gain only 5hp TOTAL from an intake and an exhaust, regardless of what the manufacturer claims. And trust me, 5hp gain on a heavy big sedan like a GS300 is very negligible, especially after you add on some big phat dubs and bump in the trunk...

Last time I see, he has JP front sides and spolier. 20' chrome, JP fusa, front and rear emblem,
JP japan accessories, (even a JP hello Kitty!!) 4 TVs, Rear view Camera, Mirror TV, 2 12' subs in trunk. JP chrome handles, LED lighting, TAnabe exhuast, L-tuned suspension, INjen Intake, gorund wire kit straight from Japan. Well, too much to list, his car was in JP mangazine too! Well, I think he is going to change to veilside kits. MAn, You can't believe how much he can get these in Japan!

So you are saying that when Carson Toyota cliams the SRT intake with race ECU will produce 30HP is not correct??? I am very curious since I am buying it for my GS4. well, 30 hp sounds unreal to me, I would think max 15 with exhaust combo. Someone advise??

I've read in other posts that hp gains tend to be overstated with intakes. You do get an increase in mid and top end performance (how muck is anyone's guess) but on the downside, you will lose power off the line.
