You guys are showing your youth. You don't need a new belt unless it's totally worn out. It usually just needs a tightening adjustment after stretching or shrinking a bit. And the last thing you want on a belt is WD-40. Think about what a belt needs to do - it needs to maintain tight contact with the pulleys, and not slip at all. Putting WD-40 on it can cause it to slip, and you can't see that, it will just be a fraction of a rotation, every rotation. This will translate into a percentage loss of power, or alternator voltage, or whatever the belt is connected to.
There are BELT GRIP/DRESSING compounds for use for this. Go to PepBoys or your local auto store. They either come in a spray or a squeeze tube. Permatex used to make a good one. Squeek will be gone, and traction/grip will be enhanced.

Well it depends. Our GS has the pre-tensioner that's suppose to apply tension, even with an old belt. If your belt is slipping because the belt is stretched, the pre-tensioner is suppose to already accomodate it. Unless there is a way to manually adjust the tension, we can't tighten or loosen, unless I dont know about it?

Even on a conventional system, a stretched belt often points to small cracks. Tightening the pulley would stretch the belt out some more, and eventually lead to snapping it.

Plus it helps to have the Goodyear gatorback belt.

I guess you're right about the pre-tensioner, forgot about that.
What's the gatorback belt? Fiberglass reinforced or something?

I'm think I'm gonna look into getting a Gatorback belt to solve this problem. But what's the name of the noisy belt that is being replaced?

Damn this is an old thread.. LOL at me typing in caps back then. I was a nervous wreck lol

Oh, It is called the serpentine belt buddy. It is the only visible belt under the hood. If the squealing noise persists, the could be a result of a bad idler pulley.
