Default LSD Option

Was there an option for LSD on the 2001 G430? I bought my car off lease recently and it will lay two stripes on a power brake burn out. I don't think LSD was an option? So I'm thinking the preivous owner may have had an LSD installed? Judging by the revs on the highway I'm certain it's not the 376 gears. I've had a lot of cars with an open differential and none of them would lay two stripes. Don't think lexus is any different?

LSD was not an option on the GS430. Could be previous owner installed TRD lsd that used stock gear ratio. To see If its a 3.76, check your rpm's at 80mph. Mine reads 3,000 and I have the 3.76

If U have the TRD LSD U should hear the gears when they work...
It is possible to burn both tires in a straight line,

1) flat road,

2) good thread left on rubber..

So I don't think U got a LSD

i agree, without lsd you can still lay two stripes of rubber, provided that they both have the same traction.

it's very hard to test if you have lsd on the car by the way it drives. even if you jack up the car and turning the wheels, it's still hard to tell

With the TRD you can definitely hear clicking in the rear when making a sharp turn.

Default LSD- No

Well, I took the car out and turned off the VSC switch for the "around the corner" test. It failed the LSD test. Only burned the inside tire. Oh well, guess I'll have to blow another bundle to get LSD installed.

If your not planning on doing FI, get the 3.76 lsd. It makes a big difference in your takeoff.
If you go with TRD, (lower part cost, higher install cost) you'll have to replace the stock gear to 3.76. If you go with the supra one, (higher part cost, lower install cost) it's comes with the 3.76. You can also get things moving quicker with a TC but be aware there's a good chance for the cel light to go on with your 430. That's the main reason I've not done it.

agree, if you get it, just get the supra tt unit if you are not getting FI. it's about the same price installed overall, and it's a lot faster

understanding how the tests work and knowing what you tryin to feel also helps.... but the feeling comes with enough experience burning off tires and pushin cars with various types of diffs.
many inexperienced drivers do not yet have enough experience feeling various types of parts at work on the car when they drive, but it does not mean it is necessarily difficult to do so.
just expensive to learn how.....
