I used to have the Hiper, but I since switched to the Carbon Ti. As far as I know, they are the same except for the Ti is wrapped in a carbon fiber sticker thing on the can and the tip is made of titanium (which changes color if your EGT gets too high). I believe they sound close to the same, but personally I can't really compare. I doubt there is any difference in hp either since they are basically the same thing.

Well the Ti isn't a waste of money if it serves your specific purpose. But yes, the only differences from the regular Hiper are the titanium tip and the carbon fiber wrap.

I know a guy that owns a shop and recommended jic exhaust?? Are they any good? Which is better for an honest opinion (JIC) or (HKS)?? By the way...how much hp does the HKS Hiper pull out?? and he told me the Hiper is kind of loud...

Well, like Flipside said, if you have a reason for it, then go for it. I bought it because I needed bigger piping and I thought I'd mix things up a little bit with the Carbon. I couldn't tell you what I paid for it off hand as my shop ordered it for me directly from HKS.

As far as the Hiper being loud, it really wasn't all that bad... more of a throaty sound under normal driving conditions. At WOT, it did get a bit on the loud side, but not the high pitched whiney kind of loud. If you want quiet, I'd go L-sportline. I don't have any personal experience with JIC, but I don't see them on a lot of Lex's

HP wise... I did a baseline run of 181rwhp. I added a RMM intake, SAFC, Toyomoto header, Hiper and dyno tuned it. It increased to 209rwhp. Sorry I can't be more precise on the specific number gains!

Ahhh you still have to learn the fundamentals of Rear Wheel HP and Crank HP. Our IS' have a crank hp rating of 215, the power that's giving out at the flywheel. Now factor in driveline loss (the actual power that is actually getting transferred to the wheels to the ground), and you have roughly a 30% loss for an auto and about 15-20% loss for a manual tranny.

The SAFC runs around $300 I believe (it's been some time since I bought it!) and hp gain is completely dependent on your other mods. All it really does is let you set your A/F for max power gains with your mods...

Eh... it sounds like you have a lot going on right now and by putting in an SAFC, you are going to need it tuned, which usually isn't cheap. Personally, if I were you, I would pick up some bolt-ons for the time being and the SAFC at a later date. Besides, if you tune it now and decide to add more bolt-ons in the future, you are going to need to retune it anyways...

www.l-tunedparts.com carries the HKS Hiper.

Stay away from Lextasy. They're banned from ClubLexus and IS300.net for a reason.
