I will tell you for a fact that you can not easily do this swap.

I have an 01 IS300 and considered converting to 5spd. The obvious question Automatic IS300 and GS300 owners have to address is:
"What do you do with the Auto tranny ECU?"

Fact is... you MUST get the 2002 IS300 5spd ECU and either get the 2002 IS300 wiring harness and splice it into your car's engine bay.... or use your existing GS harness and re-pin it to correspond to the 2002 IS300 5spd ECU.

Keep in mind automatic and manual IS300's have different harnesses and ECU's.

It is very possible, but do you really want to go thru that wiring hell? Its not really worth the trouble seeing that the GS300/ IS300 auto tranny is far stronger than the IS300 5spd...when it comes to handling higher than 275rwhp.

i thought the 5 speed can handle at least 300rwhp no problem?

but yeah, the wiring is sooo much fun.

I have seen damage to friends trannies under that 300rwhp mark. 300rwhp is a nice round number, not to be taken for face value.

could be more, could be less... Lot of variables, but if ur not a stock 2JZ... ur days are numbered

Your better off just holding onto your GS the way it is. perhaps the upcoming GS model will offer a manual?

Yeah just take it easy i guess.

Lot of the IS300 guys are swapping to R154 and V160 units.
I have heard a lot of complaints of tranny popping out of gear and synchros grinding.
