Default Check Engine Light, GS400

I have a 2000 GS400 Lexus and I'm running a Swift Racing Hi-Flo Intake & Race Chip. Dragon Torque Converter and Borla Exhausts. The check engine line continues to come on after each reset. I live in California so I'm forced to get a smog certificate every two years. The car won't pass until I can make that engine light stay off. Does anyone have any suggestions to my dilemna?

Thanks in advance.

that's not good. first of all, to do smog you need to take away the intake and also put back the stock ecu for sure. otherwise you will fail smog even if you do't have the CEL. the intake wont' past smog for sure

and the check engine light, depends on the code, sometimes it's actually saying it has something to do with the tranny (rmmgs4's experience), and he passed smog no problem and got his sticker.

but the intake has to go for sure

Check with SRT to see if they got their intakes CARB approved. I thought I read that somewhere. If yes, then ask them if it is possible to get the approval sticker.

I'm worried that they might not be able to give you a sticker. If not, then you need to change the intake and ECU back to stock, re-set the ECU, then drive the car for a while and see if the check engine goes back on.

If it does, then get the code read and see what is failing.

I re-set my ecu right before going to the smog station so the check engine light was not on.

In any case, since my failure was because of my tranny modified valve body, that error code was not a smog related failure, so I should pass smog even if the light was on, but why take any chances?

Has anyone who lives in California been able to get their car to pass SMOG, modified with SRT components?

well if there is no sticker for the srt intake (which i still doubt btw), there is no way you can pass smog unless you do it the illegal way (of course i won't go into that too )
