Okay here I go. I guess the oil in my engine got low when I was out of town, and to make a long story short and get to my question the engine is tapping and making a serious rattle noise with NO compression when you hit the gas. The car barley stays running once you start it. I had the car taken to my mechanic who did the normal, check the cam, rods and heads. Nothing wrong there. Now he has to dig further into the engine to see exactly what was damaged.
My question is if I need to replace the engine can I buy an engine from a GS4** and have it swapped in? If so what else would I need to purchase? I have found several engines around $1,500.00 with 45,000miles and less on them. I have also found GS300 engines but they are the same price. If I can put a GS4** engine in I should right?
you will need a whole new set of harness, new computer, new tq converter for tranny, new engine mounts, and tons of other wirings, etc... it's going to be a lot more than what it seems
More than likely I will get the engine from either a vehicle that has been hit in the rear and totaled. The new tq. want be a problem because I want to get a dragon tq anyway. How much could engine mounts really cost. Hopefully the wirings are still in tack from the car I try to get one from.
Has anyone every heard of this problem before? I kind of want to take this oppurtunity to build the car up since I have replace the engine. I mean since it is going to be down should I look into a Supra swap? I saw one on ebay for $4000.00. What would you guys do??????????????
