Lightbulb Synthetic tranny and diff. fluid

I want to replace my tranny fluid and differential fluid, and I was thinking that I might as well use synthetic oil.
I know of no reason that I shouldn't do this.

Anyone else know of any reason why I might NOT want to do this???

Assuming it's ok, I'd either use Mobil 1 or Redline. Anyone have any qualified recommendations as far as the 'weight' goes?

I think you should only use specified Toyota/Lexus oil in the tranny. Big warnings in my owners manual about this.

I know of no synthetic oil manufacturer that makes a Type IV tranny fluid that meets the standards required by Lexus. Just have your tranny system flushed. (Not just draining 2 quarts from the pan) You will be amazed with the improvement.

The rear differential can be replaced with Redline, or other aftermarket oil. There are several types out there. The type you use will depend on whether you have a LSD, stock or Torsen type rear end. Picking the wrong type can make problems for you.

I'm using Redline in my LSD. I'll have to look up which type I used since it's been a while. Redgs4 has a Torsen rear end and he can advise on what type oil he uses. In his case it's pretty critical what oil to use.

Actually, I have a clutch type that requires friction modifiers. I have thus far settled on the ATS fluid for my ATS Carbon LSD. Per the others, stick to the Toyota AT fluid.
