Default lsd info

hey guys

I just FINALLY found a Supra lsd. I have done my research but there are two things that I'm still not sure. How can you tell if the lsd is from a supra 6-speed or an Auto? Can you tell? and I know the gearing for the 6 speed lsd is wrong but What would happen if it is from a 6speed and I install it.?
I'm picking it up later today? Any thoughts?

I'm not sure about the gearing difference between a 6 speed and auto, but do make sure it is actually a limited slip diff (LSD)-not all Supra diffs were.
You probably already know this if you've done your research, but just in case....
Hope it works out OK!

Well if it's 6 spd you might need a different half shaft than stock most likely.

The rear end from a 6speed is 3.27:1, which is the same as a stock GS400.
The automatic Supra Turbo rear end is 3.76:1 plus it is a direct bolt on vs the 6 speed which requires different half shafts.
If your sticking to NA power, then the 3.76 gears are perfect and higly recommended. I will be swaping the LSD from my 3.76 box to the stock 3.27 box due to pending SC.

Actually the Supra Turbo 6spd is 3.133.

Here is a link to an earlier post I made regarding the Supra Differentials.
