i would rather spend a couple grand more and not have to worry about my engine blowing up or tranny busting wide open on the track or highway.

Another question:

Why is the us spec supra engine 320 hp and j-spec 280?

Letsride, you got any sources you plan on getting the supra engine from?

If install is only 4-6k I would rather have a stronger more mod friendly engine instead of cheating death by running high boost on my stock block. I agree, it would be so cool.
well the srt stage 3 turbo with cost you around 8k and about 1500.00 to get it installed....yeah it might be cheaper if you get J-spec TT engine around 4-5k...but i don't know how much it will cost you to get it install...my concern is about the wiring issues..that's why i went with SRT Turbo..Good Luck on your search and let us know ....Jimmy

With a full TT swap, you guys are forgetting about the electronics.
It will take a whole lot of time and money to get everything working like stock.

in japan there is a "law" saying that all cars can't have more than 280hp, that's why a lot of cars have "maxed out" the figure. you don't think the skyline is also ONLY 280hp right?

that's my point too. i am not saying the NA supra engine is bad, but it's defintely not FULLY proven. it you do the ultimate boost then the TT engine is going to win before the NA engine needs some work/upgrade. yeah after all i think the TT swap would cost more money, but in my opinion though, that's part of the "do it right" theory

and i agree, the wiring is going to be a FULL nightmare

Blue I have been getting quotes from some of the importers but I may end up sourcing it myself by flying over to pick the one I want and have it shipped back.

Richie....when I undertake this project I will be doing it all myself....that way if something breaks I only have myself to blame The hardest part is going to be not driving the car for a while......

Default 280 vs 320

for once America gets a little better version of something(2JZ-GTE) than japan does..
our Supra is a little better also...
Europe might have a little better version than us tho...

japan 2JZ-GTE's have smaller cams & smaller turbo's
also the exaust manifold is NOT ported.. & injectors are only 440cc??
stock this version of the 2JZ-GTE will probably tap out at like 425hp
US versions can do 500hp+

of course the japanese version makes More torque a bit Earlier

I heard of acouple people who did this, it is better for the money if your planning to get stage 3....steve said it only runs around 7-10k for everything not bad and steve knows a shop that will install it tooo...sounds better then 12-15k for stage 3, more power, more realiability.

My GS in Vancouver B.C. is actually doing the Supra swap right now but still thinking of single turbo or twins. But for modding the 6-speed tranny to fit the GS , there are lots of custom work to be done, basically the whole tranny mount is completely different and finding out new stuff everyday. I not in Van right now, so the car is slowly getting done bit by bit but cross my fingers hopefully next months it'll be done. I'll keep you guys posted,

The Gs is actually pretty light without the motor in it.
