quick round of stupid questions about this mod...

1. will my car be alot louder with these headers?
2. will there be a significant HP gain from the headers?
3. are headers supposed to be used in conjunction with intake/exhaust?

sory for the basic questions i just have no experience with headers

Thanks for the response Brady. Is there anyone with a 430 near this guy I'm sure we could get some 430 guys to throw up a few bucks to test fit or make a custom y pipe so this could be a direct bolt on an this way it could be coated before we get it. How many 430 guys were interested in this?

Fisher,

I'm one of the 430 guys on the list and would be interested in the custom y pipe. If this doesn't happen I had planned on getting a custom stainless y pipe made locally.

Sorry for jumping in on this thread so late in the game. Not having read most of this thread, how much HP are we talking and how much will this part cost?

the head can cost us 400-600 either reg or ceramnic coated. Most headers can give a honest 12-20 rwhp and even more with a custom h pipe or y pipe...whichever one perfers. I am afraid of install on this one...but I have a family friend who can do this for me cheap..I hope. Off topic a hooker header for my cobra(94) gave me around 15 to the rear wheel. Insane imo

Although I cannot guarantee it I believe all the 430 cars, SC430, GS430, LS430 all share the same exhaust manifold. Lexus went back to a more restrictive single tube design on these engines and increased the displacement which would further compound the restriction. This is one of the main reasons that the 430 engines did not recieve an increase power rating.

IMO headers will respond better on a 430 engine than the 400 engine as there is more restriction to release on the bigger engine with the more restrictive factory manifold.

Now, since we have not built and installed the headers yet we can only speculate but lets use a GUESSTIMATE of 20rwhp gain for a GS400, logically, we could then GUESSTIMATE the 430 gains at 25-30rwhp with no other differences. This would assume that the rest of the exhaust is not restricting the headers flow.

FYI, the "list" is for committed people only. They agree to purchase a set when available. If you want to be included please PM me your full contact info: Name, address, email, phone, car year and model. All money will be paid directly to the manufacturer. I will send out email updates and requests for money to be sent to the manufacturer when the time comes.

Understand that I am just an individual and am not affiliated with the manufacturer nor do I profit from this purchase.

Personally, I think I have lower expectations.

I'm only expecting about 12-15 rwhp on the GS400. I've not seen the GS430 exhaust, but, I'd only give it a small bump anyway and still expect less than 20 rwhp on it.

I'll dyno my set before and after. And drag test it too of course! Should be great fodder for the forum. heheh

Great fodder indeed! Maybe my head is up my ar## or something, but I don't understand all this major excitement over 20 RWHP...............

Not trying to sound negative or cynical about that gain, but would you really notice 20 additional RWHP?

Default well hameed

Its hard to get excited about our cars due to the fact we drive em alot, and look at them everyday. Think about a supercharger or tt kit giving 125-300hp to the rear wheels...at the price tag of 7500-30k...a 12-18% hp gain for 600 bucks is great. Love your mirror mod btw.
