Default 1UZ E85 Fuel swap

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has done tried to run a 1uz on E85, if so how much would the swap cost & would it be a smart move performance & reliability wise?

Cost would be the cost of an entire e85 fuel setup, larger pump, larger lines, filter, cleaning out the tank or a new one helps.
performance wise it wouldn't be a smart move for the money unelss you were doing other mods like boost etc.. you would probably need a standalone to get the most power out of it.
The stock ecu can probably run it with larger injectors, but without the extra timing from a tune you might not see a big difference in power.

reliablity is usually lower, e85 tends to dislodge everything and clean out every bit of dirt in the tank and ends up in the lines engine etc..
even if you use a new tank you will probably have to change out fuel filters often, worry about changes in E85 from summer to winter (not always 85%).
that is also where a standalone come in handy cause you can put in a flex fuel sensor to detect the % of ethanol.

You could spend thousands to have a standalone running e85 properly on your engine and only pick up a little bit of power.
Really, the only way its worth it is if you are putting on a turbo or supercharger, and you are upgrading the fuel system anyways.. then its just a little more than a pump gas setup.

best bang for the buck would be fitting a custom turbocharger on that motor, even at low boost you would increase the power alot.
Especially if you have an early 92-94 1uz they are built strong and just waiting for power adders.

^ yeah without a standalone to adjust timing you're just gonna get 25% less MPG than you get right now. You wouldn't get any power gain because the ecu is programed to only deal with 91/93 octane gasoline and the timing maps are fixed
