Default Built auto tranny discussion

Hello all,

I was wondering if you guys with turbos can share your experiences with built auto trannies. What company is really good, reliable, shifts well, etc. Also, if you have one for sale I am up for that too.

I haven't bought one yet. But I've been looking at SP or Boostlogic.

If I ever break this 5 speed, my wife and I keep kickin' around the idea of going automatic. It just isn't the same

Yeah but look what the BPU automatic MKIV's are running Nick. Stick is much more fun no doubt, but hey Toyomoto's NA-T SC hit 11's with a stock automatic years ago, and went on touch 10's afterwards. You'll have to road trip over here in a few months to solve the debate once and for all .....

P.S. - Ethan ran a 1.55 short time on stock suspension with our turbo Nick, with an automatic on his first run on ET Streets. Can't beat that with a bat...

A fourth amigo here in the same situation. Jon I've considered shipping her over to Larry for some work but want to consider whatever other options out there. I would really like to find a good local tranny shop that could install one from boostlogic or SP.
Maybe Ethan can give us some of his experiences.

Yes, they do. Told Gary a few days ago that the site was down, I don't think it was planned. gadg, ethan was running SP's first gen automatic, ran 11.0 with it, but he's now using the SP400, though I believe a 'glide was considered at some point, hopefully he'll chime in to correct me if i'm wrong. Have you spoken to Select? Very close to us... You might want to holler at Phoenix Hard Parts too, but I don't think you'll do better than SP's unit.

How much is the SP400 running for? What converter does it come with?

Last I heard the Non-Lockup SP400 was 5grand and the Lockup version is 8grand. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

That's right Jeff, would love to see one of those units with a GV OD unit bolted to the back...

I personally would stay away from Level 10 or SRT. Too many stories imo.

Automatic Schmautomatic......

Tilton + 6spd + TRD LSD + ET streets = easy 1.55 60ft. (and sore wallet).
