Default SC400 early gen and later gen seatbelts different?

Have a 96 sc, doing a black interior swap and as I’m getting to the driver and passenger seatbelts I notice they are different, mine have a long type rod going into the chassis but the black ones don’t, very confused if the seatbelts were changed in later years and if I can still use them or not?

Pic 1:Original ones in the car (Long rod that feeds into the chassis)

Pic 2: ones I got without that rod

Its some sort of pre-tensioner. Can be used. Will require cutting the inner steel skin of the pillar to fit.

1996-2000 models front seat belts came with a pretension system which is that rod. Be careful handling the pretension seat belts as they can deploy when dropped, just make sure you turn the yellow switch to deactivate the pretensioning system when installing and removed. As far as I know, yes you can use the pre-1996 seat belts but you will essentially be downgrading the seat belt system by doing so.
