Power Steering ECU for SC300 / SC400, What does it do?
So i've looked around a little bit and could not find a definitive answer as to what exactly the power steering ECU does in SC300 or SC400. As most you know our SC's have an electronically controlled EVO unit on the rack aka the two wires that go to the solenoid on the rack (evo unit). So My questions is how is this tiny ECU modulating the voltage going to the rack solenoid, what does it base it off of speed? motor rpm? pressure?
I've ran a direct 12v to the rack before and it makes the steering very easy, I've also heard of people modifying these units to get more or less steering feel, which is what I'm after, essentially a constant voltage and adjust ability of steering feel, so anybody have any accurate information on where the wires are coming from going into the unit. Their are a total of 5 wires I believe, also the ecu reads "NA, Turbo" and has Japanese letters on it so im just assuming they use the same PS Ecu for all models

I know it's variable PS based on speed.
Did you try searching? I swear there's a thread somewhere in here where a guy wired in electronics that had a dial on it and he put that in his dashboard. It allowed him to adjust the voltage to the ecu whenever he wanted while driving. He did it for track days. This was a long time ago tho

This sounds like a very cool idea and i myself am about to grapple with this steering rack solenoid after i come back from my trip the 22nd of this month, i plan on cleaning it off and flushing the system.. So all i have to do is run a live wire to it?

I did the mod 1997Soarer speaks of; didn't know someone on here had done it previously.
